This two-day advanced course builds on Platform Analytics Fundamentals and focuses on advanced techniques for measuring process performance and creating impactful visualizations. Learners continue the journey of continual service improvement by configuring advanced indicators, metrics, data sources, and dashboards using Zurich release capabilities.

    Who Should Attend: Platform Analytics Administrators who already administer the Platform Analytics application and want to deepen their analytics, indicator, and visualization skills.
    Prerequisites: Welcome to ServiceNow; ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals or equivalent experience; Platform Analytics (PA) Overview; Platform Analytics (PA) Fundamentals or equivalent. A high-level understanding of Platform Analytics architecture, components, data flow, stakeholders, and deployment is required. Completion of the free, on-demand Platform Analytics (PA) Fundamentals Review is strongly recommended if learners have not been actively practicing PA concepts.

    Module 1: Adoption Journey

    • Objectives: Review Platform Analytics use cases and stakeholder objectives; identify the three pillars of Platform Analytics: Responsive Business, Service Improvement, and Data Foundation.
      Labs: Lab 1.1.1 Analytics for Custom Applications; Lab 1.1.2 Breakdown Data Troubleshooting (Optional).

    Module 2: Bucket Groups and Scripts

    • Objectives: Configure bucket groups as breakdown sources; implement scripted breakdown mappings; apply best practices for breakdown data growth management.

    Module 3: Breakdown Security and Visibility

    • Objectives: Implement advanced breakdown categorization and navigation; configure indicator, breakdown, and breakdown element security.

    Module 4: Advanced Data Sources

    • Objectives: Create database views to virtually join tables; build visualizations using multiple data source types.

    Module 5: Spotlight

    • Objectives: Configure Spotlight criteria; implement Spotlight reporting; set up Spotlight for service monitoring; use Spotlight Interactive Analysis.

    Module 6: Analytics on Platform Metric

    • Objectives: Define metric definitions and instances; review metric instance generation; configure metric reporting; build metric-based automated indicators.

    Module 7: Advanced Formula Indicators

    • Objectives: Identify advanced formula use cases; design formula and index indicators.

    Module 8: Dashboards, Visualizations, and Filtering

    • Objectives: Build dashboards using the in-line editor; configure advanced visualizations; create single, multiple, and cascading filters using data sources.
